How does PET-CT work?
PET-CT, a nuclear medicine technology, combines functional imaging from PET and structural imaging from CT into one image that identifies the tumours with millimetric precision and provides a very accurate representation of the physiology of the disease.
PET-CT scan, as the name suggests, is a PET Scanner with an X-ray Computed Tomography (CT scan) scanner in a single gantry; that holds the radiation detectors and a radiation source.
Although PET CT scan revolves around technology, it needs an expert radiologist to get an accurate result. We have qualified radiologists who bring years of experience to deliver the best quality scan to patients in their battle with cancer.
PET-CT scan not only aids in detecting diseases but also helps in measuring the treatment efficiencies. When is PET-CT scan advised for patients?
